The park-like garden is cared for with a lot of effort and love. Some of the employees played as children in the dilapidated facility, which today shines in its most beautiful splendor.

At the end of the garden you can rent this glamorous and very chic "pool house" as a family or group. Exclusivity and intimacy at its best!

INTRO

The Berber (Amazigh) tribes form the beginning of the rich Moroccan history, which is fading more and more due to increasing Islamization, Arabization and now also westernization. To experience the old traditions, we recommend taking a short trip from Marrakech to the nearby Atlas Mountains. The magnificent property of the Kasbah Hab Ourika (Kasbah means fortress in Arabic). About two hours by car from the medina, you will be enchanted by another world. The little excursion gives an idea of what the country feels like outside of the “rich” capital.

THE NECTAR

The light-flooded atrium is reached behind the heavy entrance gate. On our first tour we let our hands feel everything: the rough textured walls made of deep red clay and straw, the dense, soft Berber carpets from the area and the smooth tanned leather of the oriental cushions. The view from our balcony of the bright red mountain landscape is magical. We have another view over lunch in the lush garden. The garden is like the soul of the house, with a lot of love hidden corners have been created for relaxation between watercourses, vegetable patches, fragrant rosemary bushes and shade-giving orange and olive trees. Here you can relax and if it gets too warm, a dip in the pool and a cocktail afterwards helps.

If you want to experience a particularly exclusive experience as a family or group, you can stay in the separate luxury rooms at the end of the garden. In your own infinity pool you can enjoy the view of the wide Ourika valley. In terms of design and exclusivity, a whole new dimension is offered here compared to the main building - but it also has its price.

DER PULSE

A highlight are the hikes through the Atlas Mountains to the local market or the waterfall. The hotel organizes the tours including transport. The nearby Berber Museum is also a must: what do the various patterns on the famous Berber carpets mean, how does the typical building technique with rammed earth work and what defines the soul of the Amazigh inhabitants of Morocco? Another highlight was to go jogging in the morning: down from the small summit of the Kasbah, through the villages along the path until you have a clear view over the plain to Marrakech. The Kasbah offers so much more: dancing on the impressive roof terrace, romantic night walks through the candle-lit garden or long evenings by the open fire in the many small, infinitely cozy lounges. When we arrive in our room, the fire is burning in the fireplace and we fall asleep while we dreamily gaze into the flames.

MUST DO

+ Go jogging in the morning when the villages wake up and the children go to school

+ A visit to the Berber Museum

+ Dancing in the sunset on the magical roof terrace

+ Berber tea in one of the many fireplace rooms by the open fire

+ Night walk through the paradise garden

OUR STAY IN PICTURES

The view towards the Atlas Mountains is to lose yourself in it. The peaceful Ourika valley stretches out in front and you can enjoy the scenery most beautifully in your own infinity pool

The Kasbah is located on a hill and at night you can see the lights of Marrakech next to a breathtaking starry sky ...

A contemporary contrast: on the way to the suites in the pool house, you stroll along the hotel's own vegetable garden

Come in and be overwhelmed ...

The pool is surrounded by orange and lemon trees. In the morning hours, when the morning dew is on the plants, it smells particularly nice of rosemary

A sunny spot ...

... in garden Eden

to rest ...

In the garden you will find wonderful hidden lounge areas, which offer cooling shade even in the hot midday hours

Quite typically Moroccan:

colorful patterns and the great mix of natural materials

like clay, leather, stone and cotton fabrics

Modern international and local cuisine in the most beautiful setting

We look directly at the blood-red rock formations of the Atlas Mountains ...

The staircase to the roof terrace is a bit hidden, but once you discover it you will fall in love at first sight!

The interplay of light and architecture in this unreal environment is magically beautiful

Amazement ...

... dance ...

... joy

The view from our balcony

A feast for the senses

Enjoy the open fire in your own room

and have time to dream

In the evening, the garden is transformed into a romantic scene from 1001 nights

Happy in Marrakech!

A visit to the nearby Berber Museum is an absolute must.

Beautiful village scenes ... a shepherd and two girls on their way after school

The museum is located in the middle of the village, surrounded by houses

Our museum guide was able to tell us incredible stories about the traditional life of the Berbers (Amazigh) and did a great job of educating about the current political situation in Morocco

After the excursion to the Atlas Mountains, it's back to the contrasting big city that will cast its spell over us again

ABOUT HOTELS WITH SOUL

Hotels with Soul by NECTAR & PULSE is a personal collection of our favourite hotels around the globe. They have two things in common: soul and passion. Some serve the best coffee we’ve ever tasted. Some the comfiest beds and linen. Some have a sauna in the woods and delicious home-made jams. Others have a butler available 24/7 or a hunter ready to take you on a hunt. One has a library where you’ll want to while away the hours, another one a kitchen stocked with the best midnight snacks.

What they all have in common is great design, friendly people, and authenticity. We call it the NECTAR & PULSE vibe. It’s that feeling where it’s so comfortable, it almost feels home, but you feel like there’s so much to learn, see, and do. These are the places that make you think to yourself, “there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.” Hotels with Soul are the ultimate destination for curious travellers with a good taste. Discover their story. Experience their soul.
