24 hours New York

The perfect 24 hours are the now. Go with the flow, meet people and experience the new. Cross your personal boundaries of the yet unexperienced. That’s what makes the perfect 24 hours in NYC. This city is constantly changing, so expect the most and yet nothing specific. Just know this – it will be exceptional.

Start in Soho, Tribeca or the West Village. That’s actually my favourite district, the West Village; it has the perfect mix of everything: nice architecture, little green parks, incredible restaurants for lunch and dinner, and enough hideaway spaces from the big city noise.

Tribeca is lovely for Sunday shopping and walking. You’ll find yourself spending a whole day strolling around and discovering new and fancy cafés and shops of all kinds.

But back to the perfect day. Start with a lovely brunch and a Bloody Mary. The Dutch, Café Gitane, and Schiller´s Bar (order a sandwich or one of their great burgers) are perfect for the start of the day.

Afterwards, stroll around and mingle with people in the dense streets or peek into a modern art gallery.

Visit the Upper East Side for the big museums like the MET, Guggenheim, and MOMA. Don’t miss out on the Saatchi Gallery NYC either.

Grab lunch at the Wythe Hotel or Bar Pitti (awesome Italian pasta). Make a reservation and sit outside on a sunny Saturday. If it’s cloudy, Café Select is a good option.  You might also like the slow vegetarian food at the Butcher´s Daughter or a hangover-cure sandwich at Joseph Leonard.

If you want a nice view of the Manhattan skyline head to Brooklyn or Williamsburg via the Manhattan or the Brooklyn Bridge. Enjoy a Brooklyn flea markets on weekends or the Annex Market in Hell’s Kitchen.

Before you start your night, sip a sundowner at the Boom Boom Room, where the bartenders can recommend a delicious cocktail and some kale chips before you head out for dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants in New York.

At the Tartinery be sure to order a variety of tartine and the chocolate fondant for dessert. Head to The Spotted Pig for Jay Z´s best burgers, Nobu or Blue Ribbon Sushi for Japanese, or the brand new ABC Kitchen for American fusion. All great places places to stuff your face.

If you don’t make it to the Boom Boom Room for a sundowner, check out other bars around the High Line in Chelsea or the Soho House New York – a few more cool options for an evening drink.

Most New Yorkers meet for pre-party drinks in one of the amazing apartments or lofts. Then they head out to Output in Brooklyn, Baby Grand in Manhattan, Tao or Avenue.  Watch out for specials such as Babel or Sleep no more! It will be amazing!

My thoughts about New York

What do you love about your destination?

New York is a city of endless opportunities for leisure time. It’s the perfect city for a four day trip from anywhere in the world. But for longer stays, landing an apartment and a job in NYC is the ultimate success. My time here was all about the people, they’re what make this big city so enjoyable. Nowhere else in the world will you find so many inspiring international characters. It’s a wonderful place if you’re open to new things.

Which music fits best to your destination?

It’s cheesy but definitely Rihanna and Jay Z`s Reasonable Doubt (sorry, but it’s true!).

The Chrysler Building.
Every hour is cocktail hour in New York.

Take a vacation into My life

What is the best moment of the day?

Taking an early walk through Central Park is a wonderful way to start your day. Stop on the Upper East Side and get a fresh fruit juice to get your metabolism going for the day. Then head to the West Village and stroll around. Have coffee at one of the lovely cafés or meet friends for lunch and a bottle of rosé.

What inspires you?

Nature and people inspire me. Both in a unique but powerful way. New York is all about the people. It's about meeting personalities, characters from all around the world with different cultural and educational backgrounds. That's one of the most precious experiences you'll find in New York. It will connect you to the world.

How would a good friend describe you?

A friend would describe me as an energetic, outgoing, and courageous person. Someone who is ambitious about understanding life, the world, and making the best of it in a unique way. This friend would probably also tell you that I know what I want and that I go for it.

Your lifestyle in 5 words?

Sun, Love, Music, Friends, Passion.

Which books, newspapers or magazines do you read?

Vogue, ID, V Mag, Edge.org, SZ, Die Zeit and various books.

Which films blow your mind?

Must-see's: HER, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete, and every movie by Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Your life philosophy?

Just look at the sun and be happy.
